In fall 2019, the center welcomed our first cohort of doctoral students taking the Advanced Urbanism concentration. Alessandra Fabbri joins us from the University of New South Wales; she is an architect and urban designer specializing in advanced algorithmic-based technologies. She joins the center through the Department of Architecture’s Design and Computation Group. Lizzie Yarina joins us from the Urban Risk Lab at MIT where she was a research scientist. Her research centers on climate change, displacement, risk and spatial justice in the built environment. She joins the center through the Department of Urban Studies and Planning.
This collaborative doctoral-level program in Advanced Urbanism integrates research on urban design, urbanization and urban culture, and builds on existing urban inquiry in the School of Architecture and Planning.
