Xusheng Huang is a visiting scholar at MIT's Norman B. Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism and an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at Southeast University. He received his Doctorate from ETH Zurich in 2016 and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Singapore-ETH Centre.

His research engages urban design, urban morphology, and urban history, with particular interests in comparative and digital approaches to the study of urban space and modernity. His work has been supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other research grants, and published in journals such as Architectural Theory Review, Urban History, and Planning Perspectives, as well as Chinese journals including Journal of Architecture.

During his visit to MIT, Xusheng is conducting research on sociospatial transformation of urban spaces, with a particular emphasis on global capital cities. He will investigate the relationships among urban form, historical evolution, and political mechanisms. By integrating comparative and digital perspectives, he seeks to bring international research into dialogue with Chinese urban contexts.
